The stars don't align

Sometimes, the stars don't align
They almost form a constellation
But somewhere a galaxy intertwined
Leaving them slightly out of formation

It's worse than randomness somehow
Because you see what picture it could be
If there was a small shift fate could allow
Then things would have fallen perfectly

Instead, I guess, appreciate the sky
For all the many wonders the canvas contains
And be grateful that with crossed eyes
You've witnessed other potential refrains

The sky is fixed on its eternal journey
So all I can do is focus on things that concern me
But that's not to say, nor to demean
That it's fun to focus on what might have been
